Webmaster's Note - The cornerstone of the main Alma College building was vandalized. A time capsule found inside is now at the Elgin County archives, where the rest of the Alma College archives are housed. The Free Press ran a picture of the archivist, and this caption:

Elgin County archivist Brian Masschaele holds up the time capsule that was housed in the cornerstone at Alma College in St. Thomas. The box, which contained a number of newspapers from 1877, a Methodist Church hymnal and a book called "Woman, Man's Equal", was discovered on the grounds of the former school after the cornerstone was removed. The box was turned over to the Elgin County archives office for safekeeping.
