Due to the increasing cost of the printing of the newsletter and the whopping postage expense, we will be changing the way we distribute the newsletter. Last year, we sent out just over 800 newsletters, 13% of alumnae (100 people) paid their dues, and approximately 60 alumnae attended the 2015 Annual Reunion. 8% attendance as a return on the mail out is poor. Our mandate is to keep as many in touch with each other as we can – communication is key.
2016 Process: This year we will again mail out a hard copy to all Alumnae in Canada and USA for whom we have good mailing addresses. Some we only have an email address for so we will send them a link to the website where they can find the newsletter. We had many returned newsletters last year - moved. The vast majority of these we have been unable to update as we were not able to find your new address.
2017 Changes: Next year, Alumnae in USA and overseas will only receive a newsletter if they have paid their dues within the last 2 years. We will send an email to all USA or Overseas Alumnae for whom we have an email address. Please send in your dues if at all possible and keep us updated as to your contact information.
Alma alumnae continue to give! The 2015 recipient of the Alma College Alumnae Scholarship was Rhiann Fleming, a graduating student from Arthur Voaden Secondary School. Alyssa was presented with her scholarship in June 25, 2015.
A graduating student from Central Elgin Collegiate Institute will receive the next Alma College Alumnae Scholarship. The award ceremonies take place on Thursday, October 6, 2016.
